  • Fluxus is an Art Movement

    Love or don't like it but Graffiti is part of the mundane urban world. It is true that Banksy and other well known street artists, who are now household names, have busted the entire urban art scene totally open, brought it forefront into the public's attention and it appears the room to sit on the fence with an opinion in relation to whether it's an art-form or vandalism just got a lot narrower. Folks initially began to recognize graffiti as a skill form when paint started hitting the NYC tubes in the 1970's and 80's. Gangs of graffiti artists known as crews began developing.

    When competition between the different crews became abundant, it meant the standard of graffiti became much more significant than simply the amount of it. Graffiti nevertheless still to this day remains an illegal art and the town authorities across the world spend millions each year cleaning it up. Some would query, what precisely is the point of passing time and taking the chance to do an act which may be removed inside a few days? Others will disagree rules make a boring town, no personality or self expression. These days some folk consider that even the most simple thing like snapping strange objects arranged on top of one another represents as being an OK art-form. While graffiti art in the appreciative eye, simply uses the urban environment as a creative canvas to demonstrate a leading edge talent. So is Graffiti, art or vandalism? Well... The old saying "art is in the center of the beholder" can't be better suited to cast your own opinion, no matter what government laws try to propose on you. It's your private right and privilege to choose yourself, however as such in each art-form there also will be an opposite critic to counter no matter what your view is.

    The rumpus surrounding this debate keeps the scene highly colourful and exciting! You are your one onlooker. Fluxus is a skill movement that commenced in the 1960s. It combined groups of artists from around the world into one world community of artists, designers, composers, and designers who denied standard art forms and worked in noise music and visual art, fashionable literature, design and even urban planning. They arranged events and performances to present their work. George Maciunas is thought to be one of the founders of Fluxus.

    The word "fluxus" was taken from Latin and means "to flow." Generally "Fluxus" is used to describe one of the most radical and experimental art movements of the postwar period. Fluxus took beliefs from Dadaism and Pop Art, including the employment of collage method and the incorporation of the factor of chance.

    Fluxus ignored art hypotheses and classy objectives, and its mixed-media designs can be made from any found materials.

    In Fluxus a design isn't the result of creativeness, but is instead concerned with process, idea and idea. To paraphrase Fluxus artists shifted the significance and stress from what an artist creates to the artist's actions, views, and feelings.

    Famous German Fluxus artist Joseph Beuys said that everyone can be an artist, because everything can be called a design. So as to get a more clear appreciation of Fluxus we'll look at one of the classic pieces linked with the movement, "Piano Piece" by Nam June Paik, a composer, performer and video artist, presented in 1993. "Piano" concerned getting a piano onto the stage and having attractively dressed artists nail keys into the sounding board with large rusty studs. In the curtain call, by which time there were not any un-nailed keys, the crippled instrument was announced a sculpture and offered for sale. There are 4 factors that are characteristic of the great majority of Fluxus works : Fluxus is a disposition ; Fluxus is intermedia ; Fluxus works are straightforward ( art - small, texts - short, performances - temporary ) ; Fluxus is fun. Fluxus had a burning aspiration to break the borders of the art world. It is a way of understanding the world and society, a method of social behaviour and a life activity.

    Fluxus theoreticians maintained that art can't exist outside the game, and solemnity was pelted with stones, you might say. The new movement claimed the job of catalyst, manufacturing waves that influenced art and the interpretation of life. It was successful, causing events and performances as art form, and showing that artwork could be a fusion of different art methods. Actually without the Fluxus movement it isn't clear that video art would occupy the vital place it now does in modern art.
